This is your invitation to stop comparing yourself to an impossible standard of Perfection. Why play a losing game when you’ve already won?
TRANSCRIPTION:
Perfection is a lie. And here’s why. If you’ve ever considered yourself to be a perfectionist then that means that you’re comparing your actions and your results to some unattainable condition. Think about it. The idea of perfection implies that it’s going to be over, that it’s going to be finished, that it’s going to be done, and then what? What happens after done? There is no done, nothing’s ever done.
Nothing in this entire universe is ever complete. Everything is in flux and in flow and always changing. It’s always expanding, that includes you. And so if you’re waiting for your actions or your results to measure up to some impossible standard of perfection, consider this your invitation to just opt out of that ’cause it really is a losing game. And if you’ve been allowing this idea of perfection to hold you back from taking any sort of action at all for fear of failure or for fear that it won’t be quite good enough, you can just let that go too. There is no such thing as perfection because there is no such thing as a finish line. The moment you arrive at the horizon, guess what? You can see another horizon. That’s just how this reality works.
So you’ve already won. There’s no need for you to stress and strain because you’re comparing yourself to a standard that doesn’t even exist. Perfection? Let’s just go for progress instead. Because if you compare yourself, where you were to where you are, where you were yesterday to where you are today, and if you start looking for the wins, if you start looking for the results that you’ve actually achieved, all of a sudden your confidence tanks begin to fill up. You start to feel better about your progress. And from that place of feeling better about your progress, you begin to envision your future a little differently, a little more powerfully, because you’re riding the momentum of success, instead of chasing a finish line that doesn’t actually exist. And you deserve that.
You deserve to have a life that is fulfilling, that is productive, where the actions that you take are inherently rewarding, where the things that you wake up and do every day are things that you want to do, not that you have to do. And the success that you will inevitably create is a natural happy by-product of releasing the illusion of perfection.
